When adding space between lines, we're going to use lines as our measure. Later in this lesson, we will use points to add space between paragraphs. Our font size is 11 points. We want the space between each line to equal the size of the text, but we also want to add a little extra spacing. If we measured the line spacing by points, our spacing might be 12 points. Line spacing can be measured by lines or points. The line spacing for this document is set at 1.15. This means that there is 1.15 lines between one line of text and the next. When you change the line spacing, you change the space that appears between every line of text in a paragraph. To align text, first select it in your document. Here's what happens when we justify text: Justified text is used in newspapers, because it gives a clean look to columns. Whenever you justify text, the text appears as a block with the text aligned to both the left and right sides of the document. The following text, selected from this lesson, is justified so that it is aligned between the left and right margins, adding space between letters if necessary. It gives the document a clean look. On the other side of the right align button is the justify button. In the above picture, the center alignment button is highlighted. To the left of it is the left align button – and to the right, the right align button. The buttons or commands for aligning text are located under the Home tab in the Paragraph group, as shown below. This is text that is aligned to the right.

This is an example of text that is aligned to the left. You can either do one of these things to a portion of text, such as a paragraph, or to the entire document. Has anyone experienced this or got any ideas please as this is causing us significant problems. As with all word processing programs, you can either left, right, center or justify your text and paragraphs. It's as if the link between Word 2016 and the files on SharePoint is completely broken. It can't be a permissions thing as I can rename files and edit them in Word online. I've also tried checking files out before editing them, but they still open in read-only mode in Word 2016. I've tried repairing Office 2016, cleaned out cached files from the upload centre and so on, but to no avail.

  • Other users are experiencing exactly the same issue.
  • which I can't do as it's opened in read-only mode. It opens in read-only and says that changes have been made by another author and that I'll see them when I save the file.
  • When I've edited and saved a file in Word Online, I cannot then see the changes when opening the same file in Word 2016.
  • I can edit these fields / document properties for all files in SharePoint (through Details or Datasheet view).
  • The 'Contract' content type includes a number of mandatory fields.
  • The 'Contract' content type is not set to read-only.
  • However, if I close the file and then go back into it in Word 2016 it's in read-only mode again!!!
  • If I rename one of the problem files in SharePoint and then open it in Word 2016, it opens in edit mode and I can make and save changes.
  • The documents open in read-only mode in Word 2016 so can't be amended / saved.
  • For new files using the 'Document' content type or any files using the 'Contract' content type, I can edit them in Word Online, but cannot in Word 2016.
  • For existing files using the 'Document' content type, I can edit them fine in Word 2016 or Word Online.
  • The files use 2 content types (which may or may not be relevant) - here's the problem / symptoms:
